Commodity Chain Analysis for Coffee and Cacao
Start date: 8/05 - Completion date: 4/06

The study will include seven consecutive activities involving a team of both local and international consultants:

  1. Review and analysis of existing documentation, information and literature;
  2. Design of field survey and manual;
  3. Field survey in the Equateur, Orientale, Bandundu, Bas Congo and Kasai provinces;
  4. Review and analysis of field surveys. First draft report, survey results and
    diagnostic of the situation on the ground;
  5. Workshop where the team will get feedback from government officials;
  6. Incorporation of feedback, comments and suggestions from the workshop into
    the final draft report of solutions and recommendations to rehabilitate the commodity chain for coffee and cacao;
  7. Incorporation of feedback, comments and suggestions from the final review
    into the final report to provide acceptable solutions and recommendations to
    rehabilitate the commodity chain for coffee and cacao

Each field team will be composed of an agronomist, an agricultural economist and
a post-harvest processing specialist. The survey will include a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats), conducted in the field as well as in Kinshasa and involving as many economic operators and stakeholders as possible.
