Egerton College Expansion
Funding source: Government of Kenya/USAID

SECID, in collaboration with its co-lead institutions, Mississippi State and Virginia
State, assisted the Government of Kenya with the expansion of its diploma-granting
agricultural training college, Egerton College
. With assistance of project faculty from
SECID member institutions, these professors served as teaching staff at Egerton
College while Egerton College faculty attend programs in the USA to study for
advanced degrees.

At the peak of the project, SECID faculty at Egerton numbered 28 and represented
more than 30 specializations in agriculture, home economics, engineering, education,
and administration. Over 50 Egerton College staff received undergraduate, masters,
and doctoral degrees from US institutions under the project. With SECID's assistance,
Egerton College doubled its physical facilities and nearly doubled its professional
teaching staff.
