The project provided technical assistance in management training, consulting,
and research techniques to the Malawi Institute of Management. SECID worked
with the Institute to provide training for recently hired Management Development
consultants and to introduce new business programming services to improve the
services offered to the Institute's public and private sector clients.

The training enhanced the Institute's ability to develop stronger public agencies
and private businesses throughout Malawi, which helped overcome such ongoing
problems as weak exports, poor educational and health facilities, and management
of persistent environmental problems like deforestation and erosion.
