Support to Indonesia's Insurance Sector
Funding source: USAID
Recognizing that the insurance sector, like other financial sectors,
needs assistance to address regulatory compliance issues and to promote
intellectual capacity, USAID provided a grant to SECID
to undertake an
assessment of Indonesian insurance educational standards and provide
a working blueprint for suggested enhancements to the current program.
Working with Directorate General of Insurance, national and international
industry members, and the Akademi Asuransi Indonesia, SECID consultants
prepared a blueprint to meet current educational demands within the insurance
industry. This blueprint offered a sensible but comprehensive curriculum of
education programs that included practical applications of insurance and risk
management that both internal and external stakeholders could trust, thereby
facilitating increased external investment. Moreover, the blueprint addressed
short, medium
and long-term training needs to allow for adjustments to the
training program as markets and legislation change. Additional training areas
included a program on business ethics and corporate social responsibility.
