The objective of the implementation phase of the project was to help design
the facilities for a new campus 30 kilometers from Palembang and assist in
the planning for the transition to that campus. SECID's role expanded to include
the design of curricula and teaching materials for four of UNSRI's faculties, as well
as recruiting and training approximately 70 new faculty members. These activities
comprised the implementation phase of the previously conducted design work.
The new curriculum and faculties provided the inspiration for the planning and design
of the new campus -- from the physical layout of buildings to accommodations of
traffic patterns. This approach allowed project participants to create a new campus
that can meet the diverse needs of its community in a comprehensive manner while
also accommodating future expansion needs.
