Feasibility Assessment to Support Technical Education in Aceh Province,
USAID CHEVRON Alliance for Technical Education
Project funding: USAID/Chevron
Working within the framework of the USAID-Chevron $10 million public-private
alliance to assist in the rehabilitation of Aceh province, this project's goal is to
identify options for strengthening the quality and relevance, and improve access
to technical education, particularly among women. The first phase of the program
now underway focuses on providing short-term and intensive training opportunities
for approximately 330 Achenese youth in key areas related to reconstruction
(carpentry, welding, etc.) at Chevron's technical training in Riau.
The team is developing an overall educational assessment framework to assess:
- Existing technical and vocational education institutions;
- Short- and long-term industry demand, including anticipated growth sectors;
- Construction requirements relating to the rehabilitation of related education
facilities in the province.
Recommendations of this assessment will guide future educational investments
within the USAID-Chevron Alliance in Indonesia. |
