Building Public Private Partnerships to Support Women's Progress
in Jordan and MENA
Funding source: US Department of State
Working together with Vital Voices, SECID has begun work on a
ground-breaking project supported by the U.S. Department of State’s
Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) to promote public-private
partnerships for social progress in Jordan and the broader Middle East
and North Africa region. Project activities will particularly address the
concerns and challenges faced by women. The program will showcase
successful partnership models that have benefited women’s interests,
while at the same time fulfilled a strategic interest for the businesses.
The program will bring together leading business, civil society and
government officials throughout Jordan with their counterparts from the
United States, the United Kingdom and regional experts at a symposium to
share best practices and collaborate on new ways to address social issues
impacting the lives of women - particularly health and family protection.
The ultimate longer-term goal of the symposium is to formalize a panel of
Jordanian business, government and community leaders, supported by their
international counterparts, who will continue to collaborate on issues that
advance women’s social progress. SECID and its partners will then hold a
larger regional summit to highlight the Jordanian public-private partnership
model and strengthen efforts to build relationships between NGOs,
government leaders and the private sector in the broader MENA region.
