People, Energy, and Development (PED) IQC

Start date: 02/04 - Completion date: 02/09
IQC Prime Contractor:
Advanced Engineering Associates International (AEAI)

In February 2004, Advanced Engineering Associates International (AEAI) was
awarded one of three People, Energy and Development Indefinite Quantity
Contracts. SECID is a major subcontractor to AEAI for this IQC. PED will facilitate
more effective and efficient knowledge management in the energy sector
focusing on specific areas of interest within the broader themes of democracy
and governance, economic and social development, and the environment. It will
systematically capture and organize knowledge and experience gained from staff,
clients, and development partners in order to make this knowledge more readily
accessible and to create linkages between groups and communities working on
similar topics. The project is expected to run until 2009 and has ceiling value of
$150 million. It will focus on:

  • Institutional strengthening;
  • Energy policy reform;
  • Environmental and related infrastructure;
  • Promoting greater efficiency of energy production, distribution and use;
  • Fostering the commercialization and use of renewable energy technologies
    and demonstrating appropriate technologies to reduce energy-related
    environmental degradation and mitigate emissions of greenhouse gases, and
  • Stakeholders roles and participation.
