Recognizing that education is the foundation of sustained improvements in stable
livelihoods, SECID has built a solid reputation as a leader in educational development.
As a consortium of universities dedicated to international development -
educational
advancement is SECID and its universities' highest priority. Training programs,
curriculum development, the design of educational facilities, and extension and
outreach are all hallmarks of SECID's programs in each of our key sectors. In
projects around the world, SECID and its partners have demonstrated the ability
to adapt both traditional and non-traditional educational
development techniques
to a wide variety of conditions, and to respond to specific needs from constituencies
ranging from local communities to national governments.

Our strength in educational development is premised on the quality of the resources
available through our member institutions. Drawing on these resources, SECID has
developed models for decentralized education, led curriculum development and
planning teams, developed trainings to improve teachers' skills, improved financing
of education, and expanded access to secondary education. Additionally, we have
assisted host governments in developing strategic objectives and policies to promote
legal and institutional reform at all levels of the education system.
