In addition to SECID's key sectors, the Consortium is able to offer a wide range of
technical expertise drawn from the research and applied experience of faculty from
our member institutions. For instance, SECID has been involved in:
- Energy resource management and planning dealing with electricity,
diesel, propane, natural gas, fuel oil, biomass, solar, gasoline, wind, and
ethanol fuels.
- Energy resource development focusing on the design, construction, and
operation of electric power plants, electric load forecasting, research, demand
side management, environmental analyses, alternative energy sources, facility
modernization and energy conservation.
- Transportation planning including bridge and road design, construction
and maintenance.
Other areas where SECID has a pool of expertise include:
- Industry and production, comprising the health and
growth of marshes, recreation and sustainable tourism development, coastal environmental management, and seafood technology;
- Business and enterprise development;
